How do I know if I need to register for the ELT system?

If you currently have a finance license in Georgia or if you are named as the lienholder on a title you need to register according to the DOR Georgia ELT rollout schedule. The number of liens you've placed in the last 12 months is the most important factor in determining by when you need to register for Georgia ELT service. What happens after I register for electronic lien and title service with Southern ELT for Georgia electronic lien and title?

Soon after you register for a Georgia electronic lien and title account with Southern ELT, we'll email you a (DOR ELT Registration Form) to sign and fax back to us. This form is required by the DOR and allows a unique ELT Identification number to be assigned to your business. The ELT ID number is used on the Georgia title application (Form MV-1) when placing a lien.
Can I convert a Georgia paper title that I have to a Georgia electronic title?

Yes. Within your Southern ELT account you can convert a Georgia paper title to a Georgia electronic title. Write to us or call 1 (888) 675-7477 if you need assistance with this process.
Can I print a title through the Southern ELT service or must I go to a tag office?

The Southern ELT system conveniently allows you to request the Georgia Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division (DOR - MVD) to print and mail the title. You can print and mail the title while the lien is still on it or after releasing the lien. While the lien is still on the title, the printed title will be mailed to the address you've registered with the DOR. The address can be updated at the time of requesting the print. Upon releasing a lien the title gets printed and mailed to the customer. You have the ability to update the customer mailing address if necessary.
How long does it take for an electronic lien to show up in the Southern ELT system?

After the title application has been properly submitted to the Georgia tag office it will take three to five days for the electronic lien to appear in your Southern ELT account. You'll receive an email notification when the lien is in your account.
Can I print the electronic title after releasing the lien?

You have the option to request a printed title from with the Southern ELT system, but you will not actually print the title yourself. The Southern ELT system sends a request to the DOR - MVD for the title to be printed (and mailed).
Who prints the title? Where can I get a printed title? Can a title be printed at any Georgia tag office?

The Georgia Department of Revenue is fully responsible for printing and mailing all titles. Lienholders who have the Georgia ELT Electronic Lien and Title account with Southern ELT may request a printed title through the system. Titles do not get printed at local tag offices - they get printed and mailed by the DOR.
